Billy Ray Lowry, 83 years old, of Edmond, OK passed away on Monday, March 17, 2015. Bill was born in Duncan, OK on April 8, 1931 to Mark Albert and Mary Erma Murrell Lowry. He graduated from Duncan High School. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1951-1954 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He attended the University of Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma Christian College, with majors in Bible and Business. Most of his working life he served as senior minister for Church of Christ congregations in OK, KS, TX, GA, and SD. He also worked as district manager for Susan Bates Co. in Illinois and North Carolina, and with Golden Oaks Retirement Village in Enid, OK. In his retirement years, he was a member of the Edmond Church of Christ and was active in the Edmond Senior Community Center.

Bill loved playing country swing music on his steel guitar and was part of groups that played for various church events and senior centers. He also loved playing golf, and in later years pool and 42 dominoes.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents and 11 siblings, Lorine Bell, Flora Dell Shipley, Thelma Capps, Anna Lee Aldred, Ethel King, Nadine Gray, Hugh Lowry, Herbert Lowry, Louise King, Lucille O’Dell, and A. G. Lowry.

Bill is survived by his 4 children, Tim Lowry, Nancy Coburn, Jeff Lowry, and David Lowry, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10:00 a. m. on Friday, March 20, 2015 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Duncan Cemetery, Duncan, OK.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Edmond Church of Christ Senior Ministry.
