Glen F. Gillis, 76, of 1035 N. Jefferson died at 10:28 p.m. Dec. 27, 1985, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
He was born Sept. 5, 1909, in Ottumwa to George and Effie Forman [sic] Gillis. A resident of Ottumwa all his life, he was a self-employed painter. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a South Pacific veteran of the Navy in World War II. He married Mabel Calhoon on May 4, 1937.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Rhea Huddleston of Ottumwa; two grandsons; three brothers, Jack of Plaqymine [sic], La., Bill of Erie, Ill., and Keith of Webster City; and a sister, Betty Majcher of Ottumwa.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, the Rev. David Bevington of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in McIntire Cemetery south of Ottumwa. O.B. Nelson American Legion Post 3 will conduct military rites at the cemetery.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
