Funeral services for Billy Gene Burks, age 84 of Cullman, will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at Welti with Pastor Randy Sellers officiating. Interment will be in Welti Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Burks passed away on Monday, March 9, 2015 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born July 18, 1930 in Cullman County to the late Buron and Eugenia Burks. He was a steel worker and also worked for Cullman County Water Department.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Timothy Burks; and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Gable Burks; two daughters, Tammie Armstrong and Lynn (Tim) Murphree; a daughter-in-law, Sherry (Kent) England; three grandchildren, Andrea Brown, Chad Brown and Richard Armstrong; and four great-grandchildren, Braxton, Easton, Jay Jay and Josh.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
