AGATHA LA BRUM CLEMENTE

died peacefully Wednesday, March 11, 2015.
She was born March 29, 1922, daughter of J Harry and Catharine La Brum.

Agatha was a graduate of the Overbrook Convent of Sacred Heart, Trinity College in Washington DC and attended the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

Survived by her two children G. Paolo Clemente La Brum and Catharine Maria Taylor, four grandchildren and various great grandchildren.

She was married to Walter L. Taylor in 1943 and divorced in 1954.

She moved to Italy in 1956 and married Paolo Clemente in 1958 whom predeceased her in 1995.

While in Florence she had articles, short stories and poems published and was involved with the American International League of Florence where she served in various capacities.

Among her activities in Florence was the private secretary to the late Bernard Berenson art connoisseur and Gladys Swarthout opera singer;
she was also on the board of the Library of the St. James American Church and helped set up the library in Villa Cherubini a Piccola Compagnia di Maria (Blue Sisters) hospital.

She served as the Administrator of Georgetown University's Villa Le Balze in Florence from 1979 to 1984 and was awarded for her contributions and lived in Florence until recently.

While spending the winters in Florida she was a member of the Boca Raton International Club and received an award for her devoted service.
She recently lived in Riddle Village Retirement home in Media PA.

Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2015, 11:00AM at Calvary Cemetery, 235 Matsonford Rd, Conshohocken, PA 19428
followed by a Memorial Gathering at Riddle Village, 1048 W. Baltimore Pike, Media, PA 19063 which will take place at 12 Noon.
