MARIETTA – Maxie Mavaline George Gatlin, 86, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She worked in manufacturing for more than 30 years. She attended Calvary Tabernacle Baptist Church of Marietta. An avid Ole Miss Rebels fan, she enjoyed quilting, gardening and watching sports.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Dewayne Wells and Bro. Brian Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in the Ozark Cemetery.

Survivors include three children, James Gatlin (Jane) of Oxford, Robert Gatlin (Joyce) of Mantachie and Sue Gatlin Poteet (Rodney) of Ozark; four grandchildren, Teresa Reeves (Terry) of Tremont, Tim Gatlin (Misty) of Mantachie, Wanda Sullivan of Tupelo and Amber Poteet of Ozark; five great-grandchildren, Blake Nichols, Kelley Hill (Jordan), Jade Kimbrough (Austin), Shane Reeves and T.J. Gatlin; and one sister, Lena Barnes of Marietta.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milford Gatlin; her parents, Ed and Betty Crawley George; three sisters, Lemar Palmer, Lela Mae Burns and Charlene Robinson; and seven brothers, Granville George, Gene George, Garvis George, Devo George, Gurlon George, Melvis George and Burlon George.

Pallbearers will be Billy Reed Barnes, Prentiss Wayne Barnes, Danny Bishop, Terry Reeves, Phil Wilburn and Mike Wilburn.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
