Martha was mother to 13 children. Her son George (Roseanne) proceeded her in death in November 2014. Her surviving children are: Robert (Lynne) of Harrisburg, Linda (George) of Shoshone ID, Barbara (Don) of Hillsboro, Willie (Kathy) of Eugene, David of LaGrande, Martha "Bunny" of Junction City, Richard (Sandy) of Princeton MN, Joann (Benj) of Eugene, Ken of Sweet Home, Nancy (Mike) of Jollet MT, Stephen (Christina) of Wallowa, Janet of Tigard. She also has 22 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. 2 of the great grandchildren proceeded her in death.
Martha was active supporter of her children's activities and a tireless volunteer for several organizations: Women for Agriculture, Cattle Women, Women for Timber, Agriculture in the Classroom, & Long Tom Grange where she was a member for over 50 years. In 2009 she received special recognition as a recipient of the Diamond Pioneer Award from OSU Agriculture in the Classroom program. In 1993 she was honored with the Woman of Distinction Award from Soroptimist International of Junction City.
A celebration of her life was held on March 16, 2015 at First Christian Church in Junction City. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in her name to Agriculture in The Classroom, 305 Strand Agriculture Hall, Oregon State University, Corvallis OR 97331.
