MENDON - Bessie D. Lovell, 83, of Mendon, formerly of Riverton, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007, at North Adams Nursing Home.

She was born Aug. 31, 1924, in Waynesville, the daughter of James C. and Bessie A. Moxley Shaffer.

She married Joffre Kay LaDew; he preceded her in death.

She later married Chauncey B. Lovell; he preceded her in death.

She also was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Lovell.

Mrs. Lovell formerly was employed by Horace Mann Educators Corp. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Riverton.

She is survived by a son; three daughters; four brothers; two sisters; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from noon until time of services at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home, 437 South Grand Ave. W., with the Rev. Vaughn Beeman officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
