Mary Hazel VanHook, 97, of LeRoy Manor, LeRoy, Illinois passed away at 3:45 a.m. Friday (March 1, 2013) in LeRoy.

She was born Sept. 15, 1915 in Chinook, Montana, the daughter of Jay and Bessie Shaffer. She married Louis John VanHook on March 31, 1934. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Donald and Phillip; one grandson; one great-grandson; four brothers and four sisters.

Surviving are her children, Paul (Barbara) VanHook, James (Carol) VanHook, Robert (Bonnie) VanHook, Ed (Karen) VanHook, Susan (Ronald) Darnall, Linda Mehl and Steven (Tosha) VanHook; 26 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
