Napoleon "Robert" Bailly entered Carey Mission academy in May 1827 at the age of eleven. He contracted typhoid fever and died in September. His body was brought home to Baillytown, and interred in an old Indian burial ground north of the homestead. His father Joseph Bailly erected a very large wooden cross to mark the grave.
