Helen Louise Piper was born December 19, 1906 to Morley and Ada (Schoonover) Piper in Center Point, Frontier County, Nebraska. She attended schools in Armel, Colorado and was a member of the first graduating class of Armel School in 1925. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from UNC in 1962. Helen married Jack Shaver on May 26, 1928. She helped out on the farm and was a was a teacher for over 24 years in Colorado and Kansas schools. Helen was an accomplished pianist and played many years in her local Methodist Church. Helen enjoyed her flower gardens, her grandchildren and her favorite clubs and organizations.
