Ulysses Cozart was a son of the late Mr. and Mr. Noel (Mary Jones) Cozart. He was one of ten siblings, several of whom died in infancy. A few years before World War II, Ulysses moved from his parents's tobacco farm in Granville County to Durham County. He lived with his late older brother and sister-in-law, to work and attend Hillside High School before joining the U.S. Army. Ulysses was enlisted in the former Army Air Corps (Air Force) on August 31, 1942. His/Our dear mother/grandmother died a week after his birthday in 1947. When Ulysses married the love of his life and settled in Guilford County, there he attended NC A&T State College (University). They became the parents of one child.

Ulysses was preceded in death by his parents, paternal and maternal grandparents, two brothers and five sisters. He was survived by his widow, son, grandchild, youngest brother and sister, as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins.

His civilian employment was at Western Electric, Sears and doing delivery service. Ulysses ended his career as a loyal employee with Community Funeral Home in Greensboro, NC.
