Myrtle Jane Doran, the daughter of Jane Caroline (Mitchel) and John Harvey Doran, spent her life in Missouri. She was born in Campbell, died in Springfield. At the age of twenty she married her husband, Elisha Benton Garrett, who was 20 yrs her senior. A farmer near Willard, "Ben" was the youngest in his family and he helped to support 2 of his sisters. Ben and Myrtle had 2 children: Leonard Benton Garrett and Dorothy Lee Garrett. Granma Myrtle and Granpa Ben raised my Dad, Wilbur, son of Dorothy and Dempsey Glidewell. Myrtle had a tumor and it is plainly visible in pictures. My Dad said they took her to Springfield for the surgery to remove it. After the surgery, she was bed-ridden and lived with my Mom & Dad in Springfield until her death in 1947.
