Virginia was born 19 September 1922 in Woodruff, Utah to Savannah Ezra and Betsey Jane Longhurst Putnam. She had a wonderful childhood and enjoyed growing up on the ranch. She loved dancing at her fathers dancehall. She was the youngest of six children; two brothers and three sisters.
She attended school in Woodruff and Randolph. After graduating she moved to Ogden to work.
After a courtship of 14 years, she married Fred Edwin Snowball in Elko, Nevada on19 August 1950. Their Marriage was latter solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
