Arnold Bartel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bartel, was born on Jan. 22, 1897 at Garfield. He attained the age of 56 years, 10 months and 25 days at the time of his death. He grew up at Garfield. He moved to Minot, N.Dak., where he was employed by the Great Northern Railroad for 38 years. On June 3, 1918 he enlisted in the U. S. Navy where he served until Sept. 30, 1921. On July 28, 1921, at Minot, N. Dak., he was married to Annie Kollath, who preceded him in death. He has lived in Minot, N. Dak., until July of this year.
He was baptized on Feb. 12, 1897, by Rev. A. Bartz and was confirmed on April 9, 1911, by Rev. A. Bartz at Garfield. He transferred his membership from the St. John's Lutheran church to the Zion Lutheran church here in Alexandria. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bartel of Alexandria.
