Funeral services for Fred Bartel were held Thursday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m. from the Zion Lutheran church in Alexandria with Rev. W. L. Hass officiating. Pallbearers were Adolph Dobberpuhl, Henry Dobberpuhl, Arthur Stanz, Reinhold Roth, Walter Roth and Robert Seiling. Interment was made in Kinkead cemetery.
Mr. Bartel passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, at the Douglas County Hospital after a very short illness. He was 87 years, 10 months and 10 days old at the time of his death.
Fred Bartel was born March 17, 1869, at Ixonia, Wis., a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Bartel. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Ixonia and was married Nov. 29, 1894, in the Leaf Valley church to Hattie Wendorf.
Survivors include his wife, two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Buss of Ixonia, Wis., and Mrs. Albertina Rhode of Oconomowac, Wis. One son passed away Dec. 17, 1953.
