James Willard Bailey

James Willard Bailey, 87, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at the Bowers Hospice House, following a long illness.

Mr. Bailey was born Feb. 14, 1923, the son of the late William and Agnus Bailey. He was the Bishop and Senior Pastor of The Original Churchof God in Oak Hill for 20 years. He was a World War II veteran and also a coal miner for 40 years. He was a good husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sadie Hall Bailey; four brothers, Wilson Bailey, Bob Bailey, ArthurBailey and Paul Bailey; and two sisters, Katharine Hosler and Lorene Williams.

Those left here to remember him are his wife, Oma Bailey; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Miranda Bailey of Oak Hill; a daughter and son-in-law, Aileen and Donald Taylor of Loudonville, Ohio; stepchildren, Wanda Sizemore of Oak Hill, Christine Smith of Glen Jean, Steve Radford of Millersburg, Ohio, and Tim Radford of Oak Hill; three brothers, Roscoe Bailey of Morristown, Tenn., Bill Bailey of Morristown, Tenn., and Carl Bailey of Morristown, Tenn.; four sisters, Margaret Hall of Indiana, Mary Seal of Indiana, Phyllis June Woodall of Indiana and Norma Legraft of Tennessee; four grandchildren, Joshua, Ashley, Austin, and Elijah; 11 stepgrandchildren, and 20 stepgreat-grandchildren.

His remains rest at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, 1435 E. Main St., Oak Hill, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, where the funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, with the Rev. James Oaks officiating. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Military graveside rights will beconducted by the Oak Hill VFW Post No. 3110.
