Edith Cross Hunter, 86, of Berryville, Virginia died Sunday, January 4, 2015 in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Hunter was born October 11, 1928 in Clarke County, Virginia, the daughter of the late John Rufus Cross and Gelettia Richardson Cross.
She was a nursing assistant with Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, DC for over 35 years.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Berryville. She volunteered with FISH and M
Meals on Wheels.
She was married to the late Robert E. Hunter who died in 1956.
Surviving are a son, Michael Hunter of Lanham, MD; a daughter, Loretta Tabb of Berryville, VA; a sister, Nannie West of Washington, DC; two brothers, William Cross and Robert Cross, both of Winchester, VA; three grandchildren, Morgan J. Tabb, Katrina Hunter, and Jason Hunter and his wife, Janelle, and a great-grandson, Jaedon H
Hunter.
Two brothers, Francis Cross and Edward Cross and four sisters, Cynthia Bunkley, Gelettia Newlin, Mary Cross, and Sylvia Talley preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 10, 2015 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Berryville with funeral services following at 11:00 A. M. with The Rev. Canon Dwight L. Brown officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service in Milton Valley Cemetery, Berryville.
