Guy Sias, age 72, of Sturgis, Mich., was called home to be with his Lord and Savior early Saturday morning, March 7, 2015, at his home surrounded by the love and care of his family.
Those who knew Guy knew he was an honest, faithful man of God, who loved nothing more than to have his family surrounding him. He was very adventurous and not only loved fishing, but also loved to garden and coon hunt. Soon after coming to Michigan in 1961 from his home town of Sand Creek, W. Va., he met his soul mate and wife of 53 years, Nancy. Together they raised three wonderful children who all gifted them with grandchildren. His love of Christ followed him into the streets many of times, and one of his mightiest dreams was to have his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow to be mighty warriors for God. His favorite scripture in the Bible was Matthew 28: 19-20.
Guy is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; one daughter, Lisa (Bob); one son, Guy (Patti); daughter-in-law, Esther; six grandchildren, Chris (Marie), Matt (Kendra), Brandi (Matt), Ivan (Pam), Adam (Amber) and Daniel; 12 great-grandchildren, Honesty, Destiny, Brooklyn, Hailey, Kristopher, Tyler, Austin, Mikeal, Alekzander, Caden, Hunter and Katie; one sister, Fannie Tancak; and several nieces and nephews, for whom Guy was extremely proud to have them all.
He was preceded in death by one son: Gary Sias; granddaughter: Sarah Jane Sias; parents: Melvin and Inez (Wiley) Sias; three sisters: Lee Bash, Nettie Estep and Lorraine Caldwell and two brothers: Stewart Sias and George Sias.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Guy Sias will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Stephen Middleton of Christian Fellowship Center will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn cemetery in Sturgis.
