Daughter of Edmond Gilliam and Elizabeth Hazard Burress.

Mrs. Sallie Bet Burress Murrah, 61 years old, died Thursday at her home on the Elkhorn road. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock at the home by Rev. Roscoe Tarter and burial was in the Elkhorn Cemetery. She was a native of Taylor County and was born here on March 8, 1879, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edmund G. Burress. She made profession of faith at an early age. She was married to the late Joe J. Murrah in 1899, he having preceded her in death April 6, 1937. One son and one daughter were born to this union: surviving, Walter Murrah of Taylor County. Her daughter, Mrs. Bessie Murrah Stiles, preceded her in death January 19, 1938. She is also survived by two brothers: George P. Burress and Charley Burress, both of Campbellsville and six grandchildren. Mrs. Murrah had been an invalid for the past 35 years and had been critically ill for the past several weeks. Pallbearers were Joe A. Murrah, George E. Sapp, O. C. Spurling, Tom Weatherford, Porter Campbell and O. C. Ramsey.
