Brenda K. Bookman, 70, of Coatesville, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at the Brandywine Hall, West Chester. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Leslie C. Kyle and Germaine Arnetta Kyle, and the wife of Nathan R. Bookman, Sr. She had been employed at the VA Hospital, Coatesville Hospital and the Brandywine Hospital until she retired in 2009. Brenda enjoyed cooking, decorating, shopping and sewing. She was most recently preceded in death by her brother, Gene Kyle in 2014.
She is survived by her husband, Nathan “Nate” R. Bookman, Sr.; sons, Nathan R. Bookman, Jr. and Leslie Bookman; stepdaughter, Monica Brandon-Huggins; brother, Allen R. Kyle; sister, Janice Blockson of Harrisburg; six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 819 Coates St., Coatesville, with a viewing beginning at 9 a.m. There will also be viewing Tuesday, March 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in Philadelphia Memorial Park, Frazer. Contributions can be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Research Fund. Arrangements are being handled by Wright Funeral & Cremation Services of Coatesville.
