Richfield Native Dies In Spokane, Wash

Catherine Foutz Van Pelt, a former Richfield resident, died at the home of her daughter, Virginia Van Pelt at North 4903 Market Street in Spokane, Washington on January 21. Mrs. Van Pelt, 79, had been critically ill for more than a month.

She was born in Richfield on November 1, 1872, a daughter of Joseph and Amanda Childs Foutz, a pioneer Utah family. She was married to John H. Van Pelt in 1900 in Anaconda, Montana and her only child, Virginia, survives her. Services were held on January 24 at Thornhill-Carey Chapel of Chimes and interment was in the Greenwood cemetery near her sister, Delilah Foutz Michels who passed away in November of 1948. Mrs. Van Pelt had resided in Spokane for 45 years.
