Rita Hopgood Ranek, age 58, of Glen Carbon, formerly of Royalton, died at 1:03 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2003, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
She was born on June 10, 1944, in West Frankfort, the daughter of the late Charles Jr. and Josie Burklow Hopgood.
She married Vernon Ranek on July 6, 1963.
She was survived by her husband, one son & one daughter, and two sisters.
She was the village clerk of the Village of Glen Carbon for 12 years. Her memberships included the Glen Carbon American Legions Post 435 Women's Auxiliary, past president of the Kiwanis, a state certified municipal clerk, a member of the International Institute Municipal Clerks Association, and St. Cecilia Catholic Church.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Irwin Chapel in Glen Carbon.
