Samuel(age 12)died of "Flux" (diarrhea with blood, mucus and fever also called "Dysentery"). He was sick 5 days before his death. According to a Holmes Co official, Salt Creek and Berlin Townships in Holmes County saw more cases of Flux than surrounding townships during the 1849 Cholera epidemic in late summer. This epidemic was wide spread throughout the mid-west United States.
