Funeral services were held at St. John Ev. & Ref. Church at Swiss Sunday for Henry N. Gruber, a native of that community, who died Friday at the State Hospital in Fulton. He was 71 years old and had been at the hospital for 20 years. Rev. Carl H. Schmidt officiated at the services and burial took place in the church cemetery.
Survivors are five sisters, Mrs. Theo. Haeffner, Mrs. Wm. Hug, Mrs. Henry Locker, Mrs. John Reinhardt, all of Hermann route, and Mrs. Martha Rehmert of Hermann; and two brothers, Walter Gruber of Berger and Herman Gruber of Hermann route.
Mr. Gruber was born at Swiss, May 12, 1887, the son of Henry Gruber and wife, nee Elizabeth Fluetsch. He did farm work and was a member of St. John's Church. He was never married.
