Dagwood was born in Maybeury to the late Arnold Woodrow Aliff and Mossie Nicewander Aliff, and raised in Bottom creek and Kimball.
Dagwood had worked in the coal mines for 20 years, Tabor Machinery Company and retired from Platnick Steel and Engineering. He was a man of many talents and he could build or repair anything. He loved all types of nature and wildlife. He held his family together with his awesome love, strength, wisdom and humor. He was the type of person that could walk in a room full of people and leave knowing everyone.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Aliff of Bland, Va., and Harold Aliff of Ohio; sisters, Edith Aliff, Alva Slagle and Theda Hodges all of Bluewell.
Survivors include: Wife, Catherine Taylor Aliff of New Hope Road, Bluefield; son, Mark Aliff of Bluefield; daughter, Rhonda Mitchell and husband Richard (Dickie) of Littlesburg Road, Bluefield; grandchildren, Shawn, Mandy and Misty; great-grandchild, Hayden; sisters, Jaquita Quesenberry of Virginia, Charline Seador of Arizona, Naomi Sproles of Arizona, Verlinda Mutter of Maryland.
