She was born in Bryan, Texas, to the late Percy Glyndon and Louise Gatte Gunter, at the house of her grandparents. She graduated from Bryan High School and attended Mary Harden Baylor University in Belton, Texas. She was a Sunday school teacher, PTA president, Girl Scout leader, and belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy and was founder of the Brazos County Animal Shelter. She was a life time member of the First Baptist Church, Bryan, Texas.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Robert E. Armstrong; daughters, Louise Logan, of Houston, and Polly Hix, of Plano; son, Nat Burtis Allen III, of Houston. Z17
