Russell L. "Jack" Stocker Jr. passed away peacefully on February 27, 2015, at Springfield Health and Rehab.

He was born on October 11, 1927, to Russell Stocker Sr. and Nancy Ann (Johnson) Stocker, in Ludlow, Vt. Jack grew up in Bridgewater, Vt., with his parents and nine siblings. He was always known as a hard worker and began working at a young age and notably enjoyed working at the feed store in Ludlow.

On December 21, 1948, he married the one and only love of his life, Dorothy (Lewis) Stocker. In the early-1950s, he bought a farm in Ludlow, Vt., where he lived with his wife and raised four children. Later, he established his own feed store and delivery company there. He enjoyed farming and working on his land. He enjoyed spending time with his family, sharing stories with them and passing on his wisdom. Jack was able to share his love of farming, animals and nature with his family in a multitude of ways through the different generations. As he grew older, he enjoyed the peaceful surroundings of his undeveloped land, watching the deer in his meadow and time spent with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Stocker; four children, Nancy Briggs of Ludlow, Randy Stocker of Cavendish, Peggy Taylor of Mount Holly and Rick Stocker of North Springfield; his siblings, Alfred Stocker, Betty Patt, Norma Martin and Francis Stocker; six grandchildren, Chad, Travis, Ben, Allison, Megan, Cindy, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Jack was predeceased by his parents, Russell and Nancy Stocker; his siblings, Evelyn Rogers, Irene Moyer, Sally Walker, Frederick "Pete" Stocker, Robert "Red" Stocker, Arlene Stocker; and his son-in-law, Kenneth Taylor.

Jack was the heart of a large family who all loved him very much. We appreciate the life that he built for us and the love that he has shown us. He will be missed more than words can express.

Graveside services will take place in Cavendish Village Cemetery in the springtime at a date to be announced.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Black River Good Neighbor Food Pantry, 37B Main St., Ludlow, VT 05149.

Arrangements are in care of Adams Funeral Home, Ludlow.
