ASHEBORO - John Columbus "J.C." Long, 81, of Foxfire Road, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.
The funeral was held Sept. 12, 2008, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Smith, the Rev. Boyd Byerly and the Rev. John Gunner officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park.
He was a native of Randolph County, the widower of Eva Mae Cox Long, retired from Randolph County Public Schools and a member of Richland Baptist Church.
Surviving are his daughter, Peggy Long Winslow of Asheboro; sister, Mary Louise Steedham of Atlanta, Ga.; brothers, Joe Long of Asheboro, Junior Long of Franklinville and Algie Long of Ramseur; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
