Frankie Rose Martin, 84, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at The Gardens of Statesville.

Miss Martin was born September 5, 1929 in Caryville, TN and was the daughter of the late William Charles Martin and Myra Isabel White Martin. She graduated from high school in Tennessee and was a graduate of Carson-Newman College, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where she received her degree in Christian Education and was also a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Masters in Social Work. She was a retired Social Worker for the Iredell County Department of Social Services and was a former member of Grace Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Statesville. During her years with her church, she sang in the choir, was a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader and served on various boards.

Miss Martin is survived by one brother, Russ Martin (Pauline) of Jacksboro, TN, several nieces and nephews: Jim Derington (Kathy), Teresa Robinson-Jones (Bev), Greg Robinson (Arlene), Robin Robinson (Ryan), Randy Martin (Kathy), Chuck Martin and special family friends, John and LeAnda Barnard of Statesville, Layne B. Adams (Forrest), Katherine and Emma Barnard.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Geraldine Derington and Reba Robinson and two brothers, Kyle Martin and Gus Martin.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Grace Baptist Church with Dr. Gary West and Dr. Jack Causey officiating. Burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery Tuesday morning at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Baptist Church.
