Bessie Mae "MaMaw" Gandee, 78, of Wolf Pen, Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 25, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital.

Bessie was a longtime member of Elizabeth Baptist Church, where she was the president of the BYF for over 30 years. She was a true soldier of Christ. She enjoyed making Gandee Candy, was the grandmother of Buckwild star, Shain Gandee, and enjoyed attending auctions with her buddy, Joan Shafer.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Jackie Lee Gandee; parents, Okey and Mable Thaxton; sons, David and Dale Gandee; grandson, Shain Gandee; five brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Harrison and husband, Teddy; daughters-in-law, Loretta and Connie Gandee, all of Charleston; sister, Sissy Patterson, and brother-in-law; Buck Haynes, both of Charleston; sister-in-law, Brenda Thaxton of Virginia; grandchildren, Tara Ferrier, Mark and Travis Harrison, Shalena Callahan, Brittany and Malynnia Gandee; 11 great grandchildren, and one on the way; one great-great-grandchild on the way; and a host of nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters in Christ who are also left to mourn her passing.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at Elizabeth Baptist Church, 2550 Wolf Pen Drive, Charleston, with Pastor Randy Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Thaxton Cemetery, Wolf Pen, Charleston.

Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service Saturday, all at the church.
