Kenneth Oren Toney

Kenneth Oren Toney, 76 of Glenwood, Missouri passed away at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri on Tuesday, February 24, 2015.

The son of Cecil Oren and Hildred Vaughn (Lonis) Toney, he was born on January 9, 1939 in Kirksville, Missouri. Kenny was a graduate of the Lancaster High School in Lancaster, Missouri. On March 14, 1957 at the United Methodist parsonage in Lancaster, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Nora Lou Beeler and this union has been blessed with 4 children, Keith Oren, Loutrisha Ann, Sally Jo and Melissa Joann.

Survivors include his wife, Nora Lou Toney of Glenwood, Missouri; his children, Keith Toney and wife, Diane of Kirksville, Missouri, Loutrisha Toney of Downing, Missouri, Sally Ayer and Brad Hill of Glenwood, Missouri and Melissa VanDyke and Tracy Homer of Greentop, Missouri; 12 grandchildren, Karen Kramer, Keith Ryan Toney, Vanessa Whitaker, Jason Comstock, Janson Ayer, Amanda Ayer, Kristin Rouner, Logan Welte, Hanna VanDyke, Kendra VanDyke, Justin VanDyke and Monika Toney; 17 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Wynona Burnett of Lancaster, Missouri; nieces and nephews; other family members and many good friends including Mary Kiriakidis.

His parents; one sister, Sherry Constance Toney and one brother in infancy, precede Kenny in death.

Kenny was a faithful member of the Schuyler County Church of Faith in Lancaster, Missouri as long as his health permitted. He was also a member of the Jaycee’s, Lancaster Lion’s Club and the Loyal Order of the Moose in Kirksville, Missouri.

Kenny was a bus driver at the age of 18 and later was the owner and operator of the Toney Bus Company in Lancaster, Missouri for 55 plus years until his retirement. His hobbies included being a very devoted Nascar fan, gardening, mowing, mushroom and deer hunting.

Kenny was a devoted husband, father, “Poppie” and grandpa who loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed lending a helping hand to others and always had a humorous side pulling pranks on family and friends!

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Schuyler County Church of Faith in Lancaster, Missouri with Sonny Smyser, Pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith officiating. Special CD musical selections of “Amazing Grace”, “You’ll Be There” and “Precious Memories” will be performed. Pallbearers will be Ryan Toney, Jason Comstock, Janson Ayer, Logan Welte, Randall Ayer and Vic Farrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Toney Bus Company Drivers.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the new Glenwood Community Hall and American Lung Association. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery in Glenwood, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, Missouri.
