Cleona B. Lane, 92, of Fort Smith died February 23, 2015. Cleona was born March 21, 1922 at Hartford to Griffie H. Babb and Lou Ella Story Babb.

She retired from Shelter Insurance Companies.

She was preceded in death by her husband C. Fred Lane, her parents, one brother Gerschel Babb, and three sisters, Ada Ratterree, Adean Magness and Doyce McKown.

She was a member of East Side Baptist Church where she served many years as Director of Woman's Missionary Union, Director of Concord Associational WMU, and on the State WMU Board.
She was a 75 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a Past Matron of Liberty Chapter No. 402, and Past Grand Chaplain of Eastern Star of Arkansas. Cleona was a Past Mother Advisor of Faith Rainbow Assembly No. 73 and a Grand Deputy of Arkansas Rainbow. She received the Grand Cross of Color from the International Order of Rainbow for Girls, the highest honor given to adult leaders by the youth organization. She also served as President of the DeMolay Mother's Club. She was a Past Worthy High Priestess of the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. Cleona was very active in and a Past President of the Sebastian County Democratic Women's Club.

Survivors are one son Freddie Joe Lane of Springfield, MO and wife Beth; two daughters Beverly Ann Tallent of Conway and husband Aron, and Deborah K Beard of Broken Arrow, OK and husband Sam; four grandchildren Melissa Ryan of Houston, TX and husband Justin, Scott Tallent of Conway and wife Ashley, Clark Tallent of Conway and wife Kim, and Lt Commander David Lane of the US Navy, Norfolk, VA and wife Ashley; seven great grandchildren Andrew and Katie Ryan, Ryan, Seth and Morgan Tallent, Jacob and Kate Tallent, and Emily and John David Lane, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be 11:00 Friday, February 27, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Wally Portmann officiating. Family will receive friends from 10:00 to service time. Interment will be at Forest Park Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
