Bessie was the daughter of Hannibal Lincoln "W. S." Cantonwine & Mary Actor, the granddaughter of George C. and Mary Melinda (Lewis) Cantonwine, and great-granddaughter of Charles & Mary Cantonwine.
Charles, the patriarch of the Cantonwine family, immigrated to America from Prussia in 1806, arriving in Philadelphia, Penn., aboard the ship Orlando. The ship's passenger list shows Chr. Kuntentwine, single man. Eight or so years later, Charles married Mary Magdalena Scholl in about 1814 in Bedford county, Pennsylvania.
Bessie married Dilce B. Wendler June 1, 1919 in Dixie, Walla Walla County, WA. Dilce and Bessie had three children, two daughters and a son. Bessie died at the age of 81, Dilce at 92.
