Thelma Lenore Bailey was born in Oregon on May 4, 1919. Her parents were Floyd E. and Hazel (Bucher) Coffman.
After graduation from Oregon High School, she attended William Woods College and graduated with a double major in English and music. Thelma was married to Kermit Bailey of Oregon, Mo., and they became parents of a son and three daughters. She taught English fourteen years, first at Fillmore and then in the South Holt Schools.
Thelma was a member of the Oregon United Methodist Church, where she was church pianist for many years. She was a member and former president of Chapter Z, P.E.O. Sisterhood at Oregon, Mo, a member of the American Association of University Women. She played for several years with Bill Greiner's Dance Band and accompanied many students at state music contests.
Survivors include her son, Herb R. and daughter-in-law, Debra of Oregon; three daughters, Dana and son-in-law, Bryon Fink, and Nannette and son-in-law, Phil Noel, Oregon, and Lenora Ann Miles, Platte City, Mo; a sister, Wilma K. and brother-in-law, Ray Henry, Longmont, Colorado; and elven grandchildren, Alex, Christopher and Marla Fink, Blake and Tricia Noel, Ryan, Dane and Candace Bailey, and David, Darin, and Jeffrey Miles.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Avon Coffman, and a grandson, Philip Steven Miles.
Thelma's beautiful piano music was enjoyed by the whole community and will be missed and remembered. Another pastime she enjoyed was needlepoint, and other fancy stitchery.
Funeral services were held on March 5, 1995, at United Methodist Church, Oregon, Mo.
Interment: Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon, Mo.
