Charley graduated from high school in Temple, TX & attended Bethany Nazarene College where he met Janelle Hickey, his life partner for 53 years. Charley was well known in the real estate business working in the Yukon area for 32 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. E.P. Akin, mother, Allene, brother, Leonard E. Akin and sister, Edith Borgeson.
Survivors include wife, Janelle, daughters, Debra Burgess of Yukon, Patty Scott and husband, Larry, of Denton, TX and son, Jay Don of Yukon.; sister, Mildred Schuneman & husband, Don, of Medford, OK; two beautiful granddaughters, Amy Melhorn and husband, Grant of Argyle, TX and Heather Mitchell of Bethany, and a host of nieces and nephews, friends and family.
Charley loved life & will be remembered for his wit & one-liners which were a part of his vibrant personality & life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Compassionate Hands of Yukon, 119 S. 6th, Yukon, OK 73099 or Reaching Our City, 7710 NW 10th, OKC 73127.
Services will be Tues., May 16, 2006 in Bethany First Church of the Nazarene with interment in Yukon Cemetery.
