He was the second son of William and Mary (Kelley) Barton. He was born on the family farm in the Wesley Chapel section of Shenandoah Co. He was married to Lena Mae Hollar (Nov. 9, 1894-Feb. 16, 1973) on Aug. 29, 1917 in Woodstock, Va. Leslie enlisted in the U.S. Army in Woodstock on Dec. 13, 1917 and was in the 870th Transportation Corps. Leaving the U.S. on Feb. 27, 1918, he saw action in France during WW1. He returned on April 2, 1919. Leslie was a farmer on his parent's place.Later he picked apples in Winchester and then delivered them to Washington, D.C. for extra money. He also painted houses for a contractor in the Valley. He loved to hunt deer and fish. Leslie had blue eyes, light brown hair, a ruddy complexion and was 5'8" tall. He died of Multiple Myeloma.
