She was a Volga German. She came with her husband and some of their children to Canada, see her husband's profile for ship info. When they came to Canada they still had a Grandson named August living in Russia.

Her maiden name is shown as Feld on her son Christian's death certificate, but many family trees show her maiden name as Helder.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. BIRKHIEM FRIDAY, FEB. 22

A resident of the Delia district for the past 21 years, Mrs. Catherine Birkhiem, aged 79, passed away in the Drumheller Hospital on February 19, after a lengthy illness. She is survived by four sons -- Chris, Henry, Philip and John; three daughters -- Molly, Marie and Katie. Her husband predeceased her three years ago.

The funeral services will be held in the Delia United Church on Friday afternoon, Feb. 22, at 2:00 o'clock.
