JOSEPH STEFL (d. 1960)

Joseph J. Stefl, 82, of 1809 Michigan Ave., Manitowoc, died early Monday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, following a short illness. He had been patient there since Friday.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville, and at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Joseph Kalisek will officiate and burial will be in the family lot of the church cemetery.

Mr. Stefl was born Nov. 7, 1877, in the Town of Franklin, Manitowoc County, son of the late Joseph and Catherine Reindl Stefl. He married the former Catherine Sauer June 1, 1904, at Kellnersville, and the couple settled on the Stefl homestead farm at Franklin until moving to Francis Creek in 1919. In 1922 the couple purchased a farm at Mishicot where it lived until 1946 when moving to Manitowoc. Following his retirement from farming Mr. Stefl was employed for seven years at Hotel Manitowoc. The couple celebrated its 50th wedding anniversary in 1954 and she died in May, 1959. He was a member of Holy Innocents Catholic church, Manitowoc; and of the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin 114, Kellnersville, since 1899. A brother preceded him in death.

Survivors include a son, Hilbert of Mishicot; a daughter, Mrs. Charles Wojta of Manitowoc; four sisters, Mrs. Joseph P. Remiker Sr. of Rt. 2, Reedsville, Mrs. Anna Nesper of Brillion, Mrs. John Nesper of Reedsville, and Mrs. Peter Gosz of Cato; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
