Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, Delbert Watson Parker, 98, passed away surrounded by loved ones on February 18, 2015.

He was born September 21, 1916 to James Slack Parker and Melinda Watson, the second oldest of five children.

Dad was in the first graduating class (1932) at South High School.

On February 15, 1936, he married Constance Francis and they spent thirty-seven years together raising two sons, Jim and Jerry.

After Connie's passing, he married Darlene Boren. She passed away on June 19, 1995.

Dad owned and operated Parker Abbott Transfer & Storage for over fifty years. A more fair and honest man you couldn't find. He took great pride in his work and his company. In 1989, he officially retired, but he never slowed down.

At the age of ninety-seven, he was still passionate about his annual treks and primitive camping with his good friend, Courtney.

Dad's adventures are well documented in the many stories that he has left for us. After retiring, he became an avid writer, and he accounted for many of his trips such as fishing on the Fremont River, hunting in Twelve Mile Canyon, and his trips to Alaska, with friends and family to visit his nephews, Royle and Rahn.

After Macular Degeneration took his vision and he could no longer write, he would type his stories on his old manual typewriter and then have one of his grandchildren or great-grandchildren proofread and retype them for everyone.

Spending time with family was one of Dad's greatest joys, and he always had time for a story. He especially loved reciting Si Hubbard for everyone and we were always amazed that he could remember the entire song.

He taught us all lifelong lessons and we will forever cherish the time that we were allowed to spend with him.

Survived by his sons, James Del (Linda) Parker of West Valley City and Gerald Francis (Neta) of Woodland; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sister, Norma McKean, of Salt Lake City; and sister-in-law, Jean Parker, of Ogden. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Connie; wife, Darlene; brother, Ray; anf two sisters, Linnie Gold and Vilda Chivers.

The family wishes to thank Intermountain Homecare & Hospice, especially Audrey and Brittany for their care and kindness shown to Dad in his final weeks.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Woodland Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Monday, February 23, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and prior to the services on Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. in the Woodland Ward Building.
