Ann Harris Messer

Beaver, Utah

Ann Harris Messer, age 83, passed away February 18, 2015 in Beaver, Utah.

She was born to Orville Duane Harris and Hester Neal Harris in Beaver, Utah on July 29, 1931.

She enjoyed participating in cultural civic arts and was very active in the preservation of the history of Beaver City.

Ann always opened her home to anyone and everyone and loved feeding her legendary sourdough pancakes to family, friends, and stray travelers stopping by.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions including Stake YM and Gleaner Leader, Primary President, YW President, Stake Extraction Specialist, and Family History Specialist.

She enjoyed studying the scriptures and was a gifted speaker and teacher of the gospel.

She was also a gifted storyteller and was often asked to tell stories at the elementary school.

Ann loved everyone and was loved by them in return.

Ann is survived by her children Gary Neal Messer of Cedar City, Utah;

Karianne Jarvis (Rick) of Beaver, Utah;

Tracy Joy Davis of Cedar City, Utah;

Jacki Lynn Smith (Alan) of Delta, Utah;

David John Messer of Cedar City, Utah;

Dana Kay VonRolleston (Wes) of Monroe, Utah;

Paul Jay Messer of San Diego, CA;

sisters Mary Harris Lowe

and Joyce Harris Gale;

24 grandchildren;

23 great-grandchildren

and one great-great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her husband John Creighton Messer;

her parents; her grandparents Daniel Duane Harris, Henry Earnest Neal, Francis Elizabeth Tolton, and Alice Yard; and her husband's best friend Norman Bradshaw.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 23, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at the Beaver 2nd Ward Chapel (15 North 100 West) in Beaver, Utah.

Viewings will be held Sunday, February 22nd from 6-7:30 p.m. at Southern Utah Mortuary (195 N 200 W) in Beaver, Utah and Monday, February 23rd from 10-11:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
