Clifford W. Williams was born Jan. 30, 1919 in Benson County near Harlow to Paul and Ida Erickson Williams. He was raised in Benson County & attended Butte Valley Township School. He married Evelyn Bratvold Sept. 30, 1939. He began farming in the Flora area in 1943. The family moved to Maddock in 1956. He worked for the Maddock School, Farmers Union Oil Co. & operated the Standard Oil Station in Maddock for several years. They moved to Rugby in 1978, where they worked for the Heart of America Medical Center until they retired. They moved to Minot in 1992.
He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church of Minot, the Sons of Norway, Maddock Golf Club & the North Viking Lutheran Church in Maddock.
Survivors include his wife; 5 sons & daughters-in-law, Gerald & Deb Williams of Bottineau, Kenneth & Renae Williams, Steven Williams & Leslie & Teri Williams of Minot & Daniel & Linda Williams of Fargo; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Janis & Gene Haugen of Fargo & Gweneth Mills of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Walter "Bud" Williams of Fargo; a sister, Phylis Rehling of Maddock.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Clarence, Phillip & Wallace "Wally" Williams & an infant, Clarence; & 5 sisters, Beatrice Antonson, Stella Rierson, Ardella Rehling, Lillian Fossum & an infant, Winnifred.
