Melvin Dale "Mel" Cogan LADSON - Melvin Dale "Mel" Cogan, 68, of Ladson, husband of Diane E. Cogan, died Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at his residence. A memorial service will be held 3 o'clock, Friday, May 25, 2012 at Faith Assembly of God, Summerville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Alpha Pregnancy Center, 345 Farmington Road, Summerville, Sc 29483. Mr. Cogan was born May 30, 1943 in Delta, Ohio, son of the late Raymond and Marvel Sterling Cogan. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from the City of Charleston Police Department as a parts manager for the Fleet Operations Dept. He enjoyed doing genealogy and was a member of Faith Assembly of God. Surviving in addition to his loving wife are three loving sons: Damon John "DJ" Cogan of Ladson, Dale Alan Cogan (Angie) of Portland, Tennessee and Lenny Earl Cogan (Tasha) of Cross, two grandchildren: Lenny Earl Cogan, Jr. and Gabriel Dale Cogan both of Cross, three sisters: Loretta Halliday and Joyce Becker both of Toledo, Ohio and Kari Dooley of Swanton, Ohio, eight nieces and three nephews.
