Ruth E. (Kickertz) Hemm was born June 29, 1921, the daughter of Eugene & Emma (Ladenthin) Kickertz near Davenport, North Dakota. She attended school in the Davenport/Wheatland areas and graduated with honors from Lincoln High School, Casselton, North Dakota. She attended Bismarck Evangelical Hospital School Of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse in Bismarck, North Dakota and Grand Rapids, Minnesota. In 1944, she joined the US Army Nurse Corps and served in the Pacific Theater. Upon discharge she worked as a nurse in: Milton, West Virginia; Washington, DC and Fargo, North Dakota.
On February 10, 1951, she married Bert Hemm and they had three children. She enjoyed working within the church and in her later years, volunteering for Hospice of the Red River Valley and at The Shepherd’s Christian Preschool.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert; her parents; brothers/sisters-in-law, Vern, Alfred, Ervin (Eleanor), Roger (Janet) & Fred (Myrtle).
