Born in Easton, PA to Mary A. Lessig Rudy and Joseph Rudy
Brother of Alvin Rudy
Husband of Sarah (Sadie) Wykoff Rudy

Known as C. Day Rudy, he was an artist and also owned a stained glass company. He became famous for his beautiful religious paintings and intricate stained glass work in area church windows. His father, Joseph was listed as a painter in the 1850 census. His brother, Alvin was a fresco painter.

In the 1870 census, Clarence & Alvin are enrolled at the Solder's Orphan's School in Mt Joy, Lancaster County. This is also documented in the widow's pension their mother, Mary A. Lessig Rudy, received.

His mother's burial site has finally been located, due to finding statements in the widow's pension documenting her address, in later years, in Saylorsburg, Monroe County, PA. Her father and mother are buried nearby in Scotia and will be linked to her.

Clarence began working, at age 16, to help support his family, after the death of his father during the Civil War.

There is a Lessig cousin in Monroe County in the late 1800's with the same first and middle name as Clarence Day Rudy, he too was an artist.
