Rebecca Jane Abramson Cummings, 48, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, after a decade-long struggle with cancer.

Rebecca was born in Alexandria to Zeda and Robert Abramson, and was married to the late McCormick “Mac” Cummings (d. 2002). She attended Brigham Young University, as well as Mary Washington University and worked several jobs before becoming a teacher at Stafford Middle School for emotionally disturbed children. Rebecca was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–day Saints, and often spent her free time sewing and doing genealogical work. She enjoyed a life of learning, and was known for being a talented writer and editor.
