Robert Paul Abramson, 67, former resident of Salt Lake City, a retired operations research analyst with the U.S. Coast Guard, died Sept. 24, 2001 in Stafford, VA.
He was a native of New York City and a graduate of the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, N.Y. He also earned bachelors degrees from University of Miami in Mechanical Engineering and Religion. His advanced degrees include masters in mathematics and business administration from University of Rochester and a masters in Psychology from George Mason University.
While living in Salt Lake, Mr. Abramson worked for Sperry. He moved to Virginia in 1963 as a civil service employee for the Navy and later transferred to the Coast guard. He was the author of numerous technical reports and articles and had been cited on many occasions for his contributions to the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the organizations for which he worked.
He was active with the Baltimore Yankee Rebels Drum and Bugle Corps for 30 years. He was also an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Zeda Sweat Abramson of Alexandria, VA; four sons, Mark Abramson of Houston, TX; Michael Abramson of Red Lion, PA; Jonathan Abramson of Stafford, VA; Christopher Abramson of Rapid City, SD; one daughter, Rebecca Cummings of Stafford, VA; and 19 grandchildren.
