THE FUNERAL OF MRS. DR. SWEENEY

The funeral of Mrs. John Steele Sweeney of Chicago, formerly Miss Grace Hamilton of this city, took place last Wednesday afternoon from the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Hamilton, where her body was brought immediately after her death. The funeral was a large one and there was a profusion of floral tributes from sorrowing friends and relatives. Indeed it is seldom that so many beautiful floral designs are seen on such an occasion. These eloquently expressed the sorrow felt over her death and also in a delicate and feeling manner, reminded those whom her death had left broken-hearted of the sympathy of those who were present to aid in the last sad rites. The funeral services were brief and appropriate. They were conducted by Rev. J.W. Davidson of Green lake, an old friend and pastor of the family of deceased, assisted by Rev. D. R. Anderson, pastor of the Congregational Church here and by Mr. Edwin Sweeney of Paris, Kentucky, a brother of the bereaved husband and a student of theology at the University of Lexington, Kentucky.

A large number of people from Manitowoc attended the funeral and among those from abroad were Mrs. John Steele Sweeney of Paris, Kentucky, mother of the bereaved husband, Edwin Sweeney, his brother, also of Paris, Kentucky, Mr. Bartholomew, Miss Jennie Pierpont, Mrs. Geo. Bass of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. B. Shove, Ironwood, Michigan; Miss Hester Voje, Oconomowoc; Miss Virginia Manson, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Jones, Appleton; Mr. Ted Jones, Minneapolis; Dr. Barrett and Carl Volrath of Sheboygan.
