Margaret Norton Clement, (Peg) of Bonnet Shores, Narragansett, passed away peacefully February 13, 2015 at home with her children at her side. For 54 years she was the beloved wife of the late State Sen. Edward F. Clement.

Born in the North End section of Providence, she was the daughter of the late Daniel J. and Mary (Cummings) Norton.

Prior to marriage, Mrs. Clement was a secretary in the Office of the RI Secretary of State. Reentering the workforce in her 40's she worked for RI State Library Services and became Media Center Director at the Ladd Center in Exeter.

Mrs. Clement was a communicant of St. Thomas More Church, and along with her husband was active in Democrat Party politics. She was a past member of the Bay View Parents Guild, the Rosary & Altar Society, and the Daughters of Isabella of Saint Michael Church. Peg happily attended Alumni Association functions of Holy Name Church and Hope High School ('39). For several years after retirement she volunteered at McAuley House in Providence, taught CCD/confirmation classes and was a member of the South County Women's Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren who "kept her young."

She leaves four children, Kathleen Clement-Pulner (Ed) of Lawrenceville, GA, Elizabeth Clement of Narragansett, Mary-Anne Van Degna (Robert) of AZ and Daniel Clement of Providence; a sister Dorothy A. Cunha and brother Daniel B. Norton both of Myrtle Beach SC. She was also the sister of the late Helen Murphy and Mary Card. Mrs. Clement was proud grandmother to Sara Kate, Anna, Andrew and Emma, Kyle, Elyse , and Mariah and Arista. She delighted in great-grandchildren Greer, Hailey, Christopher, Claire and Holden Hill and Olivia.

Her funeral will be held Friday, February 20, 2015 at 8:30am from the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Veronica Chapel, 1035 Boston Neck Road, Narragansett. Burial will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Gentiva Hospice or to the Edward F. Clement Memorial Fund at the RI Foundation will be appreciated.
