She was born the ninth of thirteen children to Louis Henry and Amanda ElDora Hooten Bell. The family moved to Broken Bow, Oklahoma when she was 3 years old where, once she was big enough, she enjoyed helping her father, who was known as Potato Bell, with the farm work. She took pride in her father preferring her hard work over that of many of the men. Many of her relatives would sometimes call her by the nickname Lucky because of her ability and willingness to undertake and succeed in just about anything. Working out on her beloved 4 acres called Oak Lake on Rollingwood in Spring Branch remained her favorite activity. During her early adult years she moved to Houston where she became a licensed beauty operator and acquired the new nickname Belle. She continued doing beauty work out of her home for a few of her loving friends until she was physically unable to do so. She also enjoyed volunteering at the thrift shop of St. Christopher Episcopal Church for many of her active years where she made lasting friendships because of her fun-loving and helpful personality. Lucille was a devoted wife and mother and also a great mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Talking about her first great-granddaughter, due this July, always brought a big smile to her face as she warned how we would all have our hands full. She spent her last week at Silverado Senior Living where she received much love for which we are grateful. Her generosity and ever ready smile will be greatly missed by all of us, family and friends alike. She was predeceased by her husband, George and nine of her brothers and sisters. Lucille is survived by her brother Jack, sisters Myrtle and Sylvia, son Don Lafferty and wife Lizzy, their children Will Lafferty and wife Jenni, Sarah Lafferty Thiele and husband Steven, son Copper Lafferty and his son Andrew Lafferty as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
