Sara was the Salutatorian of her class at Jasper High School. She received a scholarship to Butler University where she studied business. Her first job was a secretarial position at the Indiana State Welfare Department, and she later worked at the U.S. Rubber Company. On February 4, 1950, she married the late Gerald A. Ford.
Sara enjoyed being independent. She was very physically and mentally active into her early 90's – even cutting grass at age 91. She would walk the dog around the neighborhood or just walk to the store. Her mind was kept sharp by preparing taxes for herself and others.
Sara will be greatly missed by her son Gary (Peggy) Ford and daughter Melinda (Dave) Raub.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her four siblings.
